About Author Lisa Compton…

Growing up I always wanted to be two things: a writer and a detective! Now I get to be both!

My first experience as a writer came in the fourth grade when my teacher read one of my stories to the class. I’ve been hooked ever since. Growing up with older parents, I spent a lot of time entertaining myself. I passed many days and nights devouring the adventures of Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew, before graduating to Stephen King. Maybe that’s why I love a good “who done it?” with a scare or two along the way. I have lived in San Antonio, Texas for almost thirty years and have adopted it as my own. I love the diversity of this city and its endless supply of ghosts which make it the perfect setting for the Olivia Osborne series. When I’m not writing I can be found with my family and cats – there is always room for more cats.

Seven Seconds Blurb

Olivia Osborne returned to San Antonio after her beloved Gran’s death at the same time sheÂleft the FBI to escape the monsters. She came home to heal, not to hunt, but when Sergeant Mark Austin calls, she can’t say no.ÂSheand Mark are bound by the loss of someone they both cared about. The monsters stole him.

That’s how she found herself standing in a blood-soaked field on a random Tuesday night. As she sifts through the echoes left behind, the thin veil between this world and the other beckons her, like a long-lost lover.

This time is different. This time the request is personal and escape isn’t an option.

Olivia is torn between darkness and light. Life and death. Good and evil. There is nowhere she can run that the monsters won’t follow. With a bloodthirsty killer in her city, Olivia is thrust back into a hunt she never wanted.

An excerpt from Seven Seconds…

Gran slipped the slender chain around her neck. “Happy Birthday, Livie.”

The chain was too long.

“Don’t worry, you’ll grow into it.”

Gran did that sometimes. Answered questions Olivia didn’t have to ask.

“Since it’s your birthday, I guess now is as good a time to tell you as any.” Gran reached out and stroked her granddaughter’s hair, her words a whisper. “The women in our family have extraordinary gifts.”

Olivia tried really hard to think about what that meant. All she could come up with was one question. “Did Momma have gifts?”

Gran hugged her close. She should have expected this and been prepared. “Yes, she did.” She hesitated to say more. If she offered false promises Livie would know.

Olivia thought some more. “I don’t think she liked them very much.”

“You’re not like your mother,” Gran assured her.

Olivia traced the small silver cross with her finger. “Are you sure?”

Gran did her best to smile. “It’s why I gave you the cross. Let it be your guide. Always.”

Olivia clutched the little silver cross. It was a token of protection. Gran’s words did not match her thoughts. If what she had was a gift, why did she need protection?
