About Author Maeve Kim…

I started writing erotica in the 1980s, partly because I was alone
and lonely, raising two little girls with no alimony and no child support, and I
needed a diversion. I had several stories published in the old Libido magazine. I
self-published There’s Nothing 86 Tonight in the early 2000s, a book set in the
kitchen of a busy family restaurant. More recently, I’ve been writing a series of
literary romance novels about a group of bird-watchers, with realistic birds,
realistic locations, and characters that readers relate to and come to love. The
first three in the series have been published by Wild Rose Press, and the fourth
is now with the editor.
Sagebrush Sojourn is my first historical novel, with a sequel now about half written. The book is set in central Montana, a land of buttes and mesas and
endless sweeping vistas. It is historically accurate and, like my other books,
features accurate information about birds, their behavior and their habitats –
woven into a touching and believable love story.

Sagebrush Sojourn Blurb

Teddy expected the adventure of a lifetime when she headed west in the
spring of 1890 to assist her beloved grandfather complete the first
comprehensive survey of the birds of central Montana. She didn’t expect to fall
in love with the wild country, the openness, the smell of sage. She didn’t expect
to discover that she belonged there, that she was meant to be live at Long Butte
Ranch. But the sexy rancher was convinced of two things: women didn’t belong
on his ranch, and falling in love was a death sentence for any rational man.

An excerpt from Sagebrush Sojourn…

Well, Caleb thought. This ought to be interesting.
He was drying his hands at one of the washstands in the mudroom when
the two newcomers pushed open the side door. The three hired men were
already seated, their hands and faces clean, their hair wet and combed back.
The cook turned from the two huge black stoves, holding a cast-iron Dutch
oven with both gloved hands, and froze.
It was never completely silent at mealtimes, except right now. Every man’s
eyes were fixed on the first woman ever to set foot in that kitchen. Caleb took a
step closer to their guests.
“This here’s Professor Barrington and his daughter. I told all of you the
professor would be bringing an assistant. I had not realized at the time he
would be a she. I expect all of us to treat Miss Barrington with the same care
and respect as we do the mayor’s wife, or the schoolmarm in town.
Understood?”
Two of the seated men nodded and murmured something. The third, a
wizened monkey of a man with blindingly white hair, just nodded.
