To Seduce a President by Mark Reutlinger
Mark Reutlinger is a Professor of Law Emeritus at Seattle University. Having written several legal treatises explaining the law during his career, he now writes novels in which the law is frequently broken. Mark and his wife, Analee, live in University Place, Washington where, in addition to reading and writing, he plays clarinet and enjoys tennis, biking, exotic cars, model railroading, and various arts and crafts. He has no idea where he finds the time for it all.

A little bit about Author Mark Reutlinger…
I’m a Professor of Law Emeritus at Seattle University. I graduated from UC Berkeley (received the University Gold Medal for Scholarship). Although I began teaching at the University of British Columbia, I spent most of my teaching career at the University of Puget Sound and Seattle University. I’ve been writing as a career since 1968, but I always have enjoyed writing just for pleasure.
This is Author Mark Reutlinger’s writing and publication journey in his own words…
Inspiration to start writing…
As a law professor, I wrote constantly, authoring articles, treatises, and course books. All of those works required that every statement about the law be absolutely accurate (and footnoted). There was little room for creativity. When I retired, I wanted to continue writing, without the constraints of legal scholarship, so I began writing novels. Finally I had the freedom to exercise my imagination and create my own rules and my own world (without footnotes!). Now I write in a variety of genres, but mostly cozy mysteries. It’s been a very liberating experience.
Mark’s works…
My novels include my Mrs. Kaplan cozy mysteries (Mrs. Kaplan and the Matzoh Ball of Death, A Pain in the Tuchis, and Oy Vey, Maria!), which take place in a Jewish retirement home and feature a septuagenarian amateur detective; the caper crime novel, Murder with Strings Attached; and the romantic suspense/political thriller novel, To Seduce a President. All but the latter are light and humorous. They are available from any online book seller, such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
I’m presently seeking a publisher for a political thriller based on current events in our country, entitled Embargo.
To Seduce a President Blurb
Sexually abused as a child, Suzanne Dahlstrom matures to become a highly skilled call girl, determined to get her own back against men by taking advantage of their greatest weakness, their sex drive. Suzanne is recruited by a shadowy cabal to seduce the president and thereby undermine his political power, the ultimate payback for her childhood mistreatment. But first she must seduce and marry the president’s younger brother, becoming the president’s sister-in-law, with free access to the White House and the president. The president’s political career will suffer irreparable damage if he is caught in bed with his own brother’s wife.
The scheme begins well, but it soon becomes more complicated, threatening to end in disaster for both Suzanne and the president.
One of Mark’s favourite scenes from To Seduce a President…
Lloyd explained how he had been recruited to find the right person—the right woman, to be exact—to seduce and marry the younger brother of the probable next President of the United States. He further told her what that woman would be expected to do once she had become part of the White House family: seduce the president himself!
Suzanne guessed, at that point, that Lloyd was not telling her this just as an interesting story, but because she was the woman he had chosen to carry out this bizarre plan. She was about to tell him in no uncertain terms that she had “no intention in the world” of doing any such thing, and “if he thought for a second—”
But then Lloyd mentioned the one million dollars.
Suzanne assumed she had misunderstood. “Did you say one million dollars?”
“I did. I couldn’t believe it myself when they told me, but that’s what they said. You sleep with the president, you get a million bucks.”
Suzanne was silent for a long time before asking, “What makes you—them—think I could get this guy to marry me, much less get into bed with the president?”
Lloyd scratched his head. “Let me put it this way: I’m not too sure you could do it either, but I am sure of one thing. If anyone can do it, you can. You are the prettiest, sexiest little thing I have ever come across, and you really know the ropes. Yes, ma’am, if anyone can, you can.”
