Frankie Sutton, born within a Motown/Detroit community, was raised on creativity—starting with music. Her love of reading and writing developed during her school years. However, at the beginning of her high school years, she entered into the world of fan fiction and role-playing games—experimenting with many styles of writing, including poems and script-writing. When not writing, she loves bonding with her miniature schnauzer. Frankie embraces her life as a Motown Michigander, ready to share her large imagination with the world.

This is Author Frankie Sutton’s writing and publication journey in her own words…

Author Frankie Sutton
I started writing Fan-Fic in 9th grade. Over the years, I did poems, role playing, scripts, song lyrics. My first serious novel manuscript was started in 2006. I spent the next 18 years off and on working on that story. It was published this year. Now, as a multi-genre author, I’m challenging myself in other formats – novellas, short stories, chapter books, and picture books. I want to share my imagination with the world!
Challenges as an Author…
Getting focused enough to streamline my thoughts onto the page coherently.

Helen pulled up in front of my house, the rusty old pickup rattling to a stop. My dad met us in the entryway. He scooped me up and placed me on the couch. “Code Jello?” he asked, his eyes filled with worry as he looked me over.

Sutton’s future works…
I am currently querying an upper middle-grade speculative horror and writing/editing a women’s fiction/romance subplot. Also, I am writing an experimental short story/novel. Many more ideas are then waiting for their turn.
Words of advice from Sutton for aspiring authors…
Don’t ever think no one wants your idea/story. Just write the story first, then focus on finding a home for it.
