About Author CA Humer…
Growing up in Wisconsin, I expressed myself in a variety of ways. Music, dance and performing were passions growing up, but there was always a tug toward writing. I have always been adventurous and curious. Life has blessed me with a wealth of experiences, from travel to work, happiness to heartbreak. Learning is living, and after spending years doing everything from food service to professional acting, I retired. I continue to enjoy my adventures, but have rediscovered a new passion. Writing. The book that entered my imagination and percolated in my brain for over thirty years found its release, along with several others.
Whether I’m volunteering at church, feeding birds, or working with a Murder Mystery acting troupe, I always find time for a wide variety of activities. My latest adventure is throwing pottery. There is a book in there somewhere. My husband, Abbie our cat, and I call Texas home. I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking and a glass of wine.
I think as children, we dream and believe we can do and be anything. Over the years, we are taught limitations. I challenge everyone to rediscover their dreams, step out and reinvent themselves, and do things they only dreamed of doing. As Erin Hanson wrote:
There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask, “What if I fall?”
Oh, but my darling,
“What if you fly?”
Life is too short to let others dictate what we do or where we go. Fly, my friends. Fly!
On a personal note, royalties from my books are donated to St. Mark’s Church in Arlington, Texas. If suspense, romance, and thrillers are your jam, I invite you to check out CAHumerauthor.com.

What Readers can expect from Art from Darkness
Art from Darkness delivers on suspense and romance with action. As Reader Riki wrote:
Buckle up!!! WOW
ÂThis book will grab you right in the first chapter. For someone that deployed 3 times to Iraq, the way she writes took me right back to 2003. All I can say is buckle up and enjoy the ride!!!!
But the reader will find more in the pages than entertainment. Exploring current events happening at our Southern Border, CA Humer takes a strong stand against crime and corruption. Based on actual news stories, CA offers an accurate and well rounded view of what is happening.ÂThe characters are multi-faceted, written in an intelligent yet emotional way.ÂYou will come to consider them as part of the family. While the antagonist is stoic and everything you’d expect from a hero, his best friend brings a touch of humor to the story. Her protagonist is believably calculating, his long range plans for the heroine, ambitious and manipulative.ÂOverall, if you enjoy suspense liberally sprinkled with action and romance, then CA Humer is the author for you.

An excerpt from Art from Darkness…
“I don’t believe we have met. I am Carlos Ramirez, and this is my good friend, Ms. Kate Hunter.” Carlos’ stance and haughty look were proprietary and it sounded like he was staking a claim to Kate. It had a definite “hands off” tone to it.
Sam raised his eyebrow and tilted his head ever so slightly as if listening for the secondary message Ramirez was conveying. “Sam Slater.” He extended his hand to Ramirez to shake. He then turned to Kate and took her hand in his, gently, almost reverently. “Ms. Hunter, it is a pleasure.”
“Hello, Mr. Slater.” Even at five feet eight inches tall and wearing heels, Kate had to look up at him. He watched as her eyes scanned his face. He kept his gaze direct, expressing genuine interest. His smile reached his hazel eyes when he turned to look at her. “Weren’t you the gentleman helping to hang some of the artwork on Saturday afternoon?” she asked, smiling back.
“Guilty as charged.” He was still holding her hand. She tugged it from his grasp, then took a small sip of champagne. Sam’s gaze fixed on her. Carlos might not even be there as far as he was concerned. The room had shrunk to a small 3-foot diameter containing only him and Kate.
