When Daylight Breaks Blurb
This captivating romantic suspense novel brims with simmering tension, fiery passion, and electrifying moments of romance that will leave your heart racing.
Kevin “Pup” Richards has devoted his entire young life to a singular passion: training dogs. But not just any dogs—his specialty is teaching them to locate bombs, find missing persons, and sniff out just about anything else. He faces his first formidable challenge as he meets the new Lead Dog Handler at HIS. Beneath her attractive exterior lies a fierce streak and a troubling secret.
Elena Raymundo’s life took a dramatic turn the day her beloved service dog lost a leg in a confrontation with a criminal. With SWAT no longer willing to keep the dog on their team, Elena refuses to abandon her loyal partner. Thankfully, HIS recognizes their bond and offers them the chance to prove their worth. But Elena inadvertently starts a war with Pup before they learn they will work together.
Can these two fiery souls uncover a common ground for collaboration, or will their intense passions drive them apart? As the simmering attraction between them ignites, will they have the strength to resist its magnetic pull, or will their longing blind them to reason? With stakes soaring and tension crackling in the air, what will it take for them to forge a harmonious connection amidst the chaos? The allure of desire is powerful—can it lead them to unity or unravel everything they hold dear?
One of Sheila’s favourite scenes from When Daylight Breaks…
She sighed and left the building. As she reached her assigned parking spot, her eyes widened. A truck was parked right behind her, blocking her in. Her frustration grew, but so did her curiosity. She approached the truck and looked inside, but the windows were dark—probably darker than the legal limit. Maybe it was one of the men, and they didn’t have another place to park when they arrived.
Deciding it had to be done, she marched back into the building and knocked on 1A. The door whooshed open, and Pup stood there, glaring at her.
“Hi, again.” Why was she nervous? He couldn’t hurt her. But she had wanted to make a good impression on her subordinates when she began work. Well, that ship had sailed. “I think one of the guys—”
Before she could finish, Pup leaned against the door jamb and crossed his arms. “I’m sorry, but were you attempting to go somewhere?”
Her mouth fell open. Son of a bitch. The little shit had parked behind her purposefully, probably to pay her back for not allowing him into the building earlier.
Instead of engaging in what was sure to be an immature argument, she took a breath and grinned. Two could play at this game. She pulled her cell from her purse and clicked on a number.
“Hi, Sergeant Sanchez. This is Elena.” She nodded at the inane chatter coming from the sergeant. “Yes, I’m doing fine. Listen, I need a tow truck at my new address. Someone abandoned a truck in the parking lot, blocking me in.”
“You wouldn’t,” he seethed.
Elena ended the call and dropped her phone back into her purse. With a broad smile at herself for one-upping him, she said, “Oh, but I did.”
