A little bit about Author Zelda Benjamin…

I live in Florida with my husband and a very active Labrador mix. When not writing, I travel with family, experiencing the food and culture of the places we visit.

When I was young, I was the girl who made up story settings for the games I played with friends. My Barbie dolls were always off on exciting adventures. I thank myÂhigh school English teacher in my senior year for giving me confidence about my writing.Â
Years later, I wrote articles for professional nursing journals and magazines.Â
All along, I wrote and submitted short stories that were more than often rejected.
My first book, Brooklyn Ballerina was published before e-readers and self-publishing. I wrote and published three more books with that publisher until they sold toÂMontlake, the romance line for Amazon.
It was challenging to be between publishers. I tried self-publishing, but decided it wasn’t for me. However, I was fortunate to be part of a wonderful critique group.Â
For more than two decades, we had been meeting every other week. Getting together was about more than just sharing our work for feedback.
I continued writing, and my last four books are the result of that persistence. I have a wonderful and patient editor at The Wild Rose Press who has helped improve my writing.Â
Like everything in life, writing is a continuous learning experience.

This is Author Zelda Benjamin’s writing and publication journey in her own words…

Inspiration to start writing…

I always loved telling stories and credit my High School English teacher with encouraging me to write the stories in a journal.

My writing career started with articles for professional nursing journals and magazines. My first romance novel, Brooklyn Ballerina was published in 2001. Encouraged by my critic group, I continued to write and submit. It wasn’t until six years later that the first of five books in the Love by Chocolate series, Chocolate Secrets, was published. I self-published the last two books in the series, but decided I preferred a traditional publisher to self-publishing.

I continued writing in spite of numerous rejections. The two books in the Highland Falls series as well as several novellas are a result of that persistence. Writing, like everything in life, is a continuous learning experience.

All my books are sweet romance and conclude with a satisfying happily ever after. When characters struggle with complex or simple conflicts, I believe readers should be given a happy and hopeful conclusion.

Her Perfect Blend (Book 2 in the Highland Falls series) Blurb

B and B owner Fiona Campbell leads a busy, yet well-organized, life. She hosts a popular afternoon tea, while adjusting to a recent guardianship. An unfamiliar man arrives to assess the needed repairs on the property’s old barn, and she’s inexplicably intrigued by his charm, compelling presence, and knowledge about construction techniques. However, she suspects he’s not being open about his family’s construction business. Could he be a secret billionaire or involved in illegal deals?

Gavin McIver traveled from Scotland to participate in the local Highland Games. Helping a friend, Gavin goes to assess the Campbell barn repairs. Meeting Fiona, a woman who captivates him with her intelligence, independence, and understated glamour, is the highlight of his visit. His divorce left him leery about relationships, but winning custody of his daughter was the marriage’s silver lining.
He can’t deny that meeting the sassy innkeeper gives him a change of heart.

One of Zelda’s favourite excerpts from Her Perfect Blend…

“Why am I not surprised there’s a company jet.” Fiona found the absurdity of his wealth amusing.

“It’s a convenience.” Gavin shrugged.

“A cell phone is a convenience. A jet is a luxury.” Fiona retorted.
