Author Pamela Kyel

Award-winning author Pamela Kyel was born and raised in Edgewood, Maryland—north of Charm City. It’s a running joke when you live near a large, well-known city—you tell people that’s where you’re from. So, unofficially, she’s from Baltimore! Since her spouse’s retirement from the military, they call Wisconsin home, where they have two daughters and two cats, Daisy and Ernie. You can follow along with her on her website: http://www.pamelakyel.com.

A little bit about Author Pamela Kyel…

I have been writing novels for about five years. My first one remains unpublished, but it launched me into my love of writing and my desire to be an author. I wrote poetry in high school, but never went anywhere with it. It was just something I did for myself and family.

This is Author Pamela Kyel’s writing and publication journey in her own words…

Inspiration to start writing…

During Covid I picked up a book of short story cozy mysteries and I decided it was something I could do. I’ve always been a big reader, since I devoured The Babysitter’s Club in elementary school and worked my way through Hercule Poirot, Nero Wolfe, and Stephanie Plum novels as an adult. My preferred genre to write in is mystery with humor and a touch of romance, a la Janet Evanovich style. Why do I prefer these genres? Because I love to laugh and I love a good mystery. I like goofy characters who aren’t afraid to mess up or say or do something silly. I’m still amazed at the situations my characters find themselves in.

Pamela’s works…

I have two books with The Wild Rose Press. The first in the Charm City Mystery Series is Charm City Crab Puff. It released in 2024.

Charm City Spouse’s Club Blurb

Special Agent Laci Duvall, AFOSI, thought it was supposed to be a lighthearted baseball game between the Air Force and Army Special Investigative Teams. But things took a deadly turn when the president of the local military spouse’s club was found dead in the women’s bathroom—stabbed with a plastic pink flamingo. Now, Laci will work with the Army Criminal Investigative Division to find who hated the woman enough to leave her in a public restroom. Was it the spouse who ran against her for the presidency or a fellow club officer sick of her cruelty? The list of suspects increases by the minute, and Laci learns there is no loyalty when it comes to social climbing—military spouse’s style.

One of Pamela’s favourite scenes from Charm City Spouse’s Club…

“What did you say?” I rounded on her like a wrestler in the ring. It seemed we were indeed going to do this here and now. That’s okay. I was ready. “You know Captain, I have been nice to a fault with you. I have gone out of my way to be courteous and civil. I have gone by the book. I have followed the chain of command. I have done everything the Air Force has told me to do, but you know what, Captain? You don’t listen. Apparently there is a rule book just for you that the Air Force doesn’t know about.Â
