A little bit about Author Shelley L. Levisay…

I’ve been writing since I was a child. I enjoyed writing stories, and co-wrote a book with a friend when I was 10. I stopped writing fiction during college and law school and the first few years of practice because I was too busy. After I got into an abusive relationship and started losing friends and my reputation because he was a criminal, I started writing as a therapy to say what I wanted to about what was going on. Writing helped me survive and escape that situation and come out on top. I’m not trying to put all my characters and stories on paper. The problem is finding the time.

This is Author Shelley L. Levisay’s writing and publication journey in her own words…

Inspiration to start writing…

I’ve always enjoyed reading and always had stories in my head. My favorite genre is thrillers. I always wanted to be a lawyer and once I became one, I had to write legal thrillers after having been in the field. My work influences my writing and many times the truth is stranger than fiction, but I like creating characters and cases. I write to empower women and point out flaws in the justice system.

My Memoir, Love Isn’t Always the Answer, can be found at multiple places.
Sooner Secrets is the first in a legal thriller series, with the sequel to come out in the next year.
I have another legal thriller, Lady Lawyer: Small-town Justice.  I will be re-releasing my first book, Piercing Blue Eyes, within the next few months.

Sooner Secrets Blurb

In Oklahoma where Sooner football is almost a religion, what could be worse than defending a wife accused of murdering a former pro-football star?

For Jenna Miller, that’s just a typical Monday morning. After
seven years in the Public Defender’s Office and many personal
betrayals, she believes no one can be trusted. But her latest client,
Claire, penetrates her tough exterior.
As Jenna digs further, she finds forces are conspiring against Claire,
who may have done the world a favor when she killed the monster in her
home. If Jenna can’t save Claire, not only will Claire’s life be over,
but a six-year-old girl will be left without her mother. Despite the
danger, Jenna risks it all in the hunt for justice.

One of Shelley’s favourite scenes from Sooner Secrets…

Ashley bolted up in bed when she heard her momma’s shrieks.

“Aww. No, Devon, please. Not again. I’m sorry.”

Ashley slowly slid out of bed and walked on her tiptoes from her room and sneaked parallel against the wall to a hidden nook under an end table. She sat down just in time to watch her daddy drag her momma by the hair from their room to the kitchen. She moved farther back to avoid detection.

“You’re just worthless.” her daddy yelled. “You had one job tonight. One. And you couldn’t even do that right.” He released her momma, grabbed something from the fridge and set it on the counter. “Do you call this dinner? It looks like slop. You knew these were important clients of mine and you embarrass me by serving them this?”

Her heart raced, and she tried not to make a sound. She knew that if her daddy caught her, her momma would be in more trouble. She felt helpless. How can my daddy who takes me for ice cream and buys me dolls all the time be so mean to momma? I don’t know what to do. I love Mommy and Daddy. Why do they have to fight?
