A little bit about Author Amanda Uhl

I began writing my first novel, a paranormal romance, in 2015 and published it a year later. Other writers told me that was fast, but it didn’t feel fast at the time. I had been writing for years in the corporate world (I currently manage a communications team). But something was missing. I wanted to write fiction–and not just any fiction–but romance, where the hero’s and heroines are larger than life and you are guaranteed a happy ending.
Soon after I published my first novel with The Wild Rose Press, I released a second book, a romantic comedy, with another press. And then I went on to release two more novels and a novella. I also wrote an award-winning contemporary romance that landed me an agent in 2020. The Icing On The Cake (the book of my heart) will release in April 2026 with Harpeth Road Press. I also have completed another romantic comedy, called Date With Destiny, that is with my agent and am currently hard at work on another paranormal novel.

This is a spotlight on “Mind Waves” by Amanda Uhl

Inspiration to write Mind Waves…

I am an avid beach glass hunter, frequently cruising Lake Erie with my husband on our jet ski, searching for broken bits of polished glass on the shore. One day, I found myself alone on a tiny inlet of shoreline searching for glass. I got a creepy feeling like someone was watching and turned to look at the houses overlooking the lake, high above me. “What if someone were watching me?” I wondered. And then my creative side took over. What if someone were watching, and they could read your mind, and over time, they fell in love with you…what would happen next? As I like to tease, you have to read the book to find out!

What can readers expect from this book?

Readers can expect Mind Waves to offer a highly suspenseful plot with a paranormal twist. The hero is part of an elite group that works for the government’s Cognitive Mind Unit (CMU). His job is to hack into minds to guard the nation’s intellectual property, and he’s the best they have. He’s recovering at his family’s beach cottage after a job goes wrong. The heroine is a beach glass artist–a “normal” girl (like myself), searching for glass on the shore. She has no idea the wild ride she’s about to embark on, when the hero spies her and begins to read her mind.
Mind Waves won five writing awards and spawned a second award-winning book in the series, Cross Waves, and an award-winning novella, Dark Waves.

Amanda’s other works…

My latest novel, Healing Kiss, is about a nurse with the ability to heal. She strikes a bargain with a wealthy computer genius to save her sister’s life, putting her in danger from an organization that will stop at nothing to exploit her gift. Among the dozen of awards the book received, Healing Kiss is Daphne du Maurier award recipient for excellence in mystery and suspense and received first place in the Global Book Awards and the New England Readers’ Choice Awards.

Amanda’s favourite scene from Mind Waves…

My favorite scene is when Grace finally learns David is a mind hacker. Here’s an excerpt:
The government doesn’t want people to know about the mind hackers–that’s what they call them–which is why they go to great lengths to make sure no one gets hurt. There are only a few families with the skill, and they’re closely watched.”
Grace struggled to grasp the conversation and make logical sense of it. “Let’s say I believe there’s some maniac out there who has chosen to read my mind.” She spoke slowly. “What could I possibly know that could do him any good?”
”I don’t think it’s what you know. I think it’s who you know.”
Grace frowned. “David?”
 Sophia nodded.
“What does David have to do with a power-hungry maniac who haunts my dreams? Are you telling me that’s David?”
“Oh, no, Grace. David isn’t the bad guy. He’s exactly what he portrays himself to be. You told me yourself he comes to rescue you.”
”David’s a mind hacker.” The truth settled on her like static cling. She kept remembering their first encounter on the beach, and the way he seemed to know where she would be. Had he read her mind? A wave of dizziness hit her like a wave crashing into shore. It had finally happened. She had lost her marbles.
