A little bit about Author Robin Jansen…
I grew up on the shores of Lake Delavan, Wisconsin during the summer, and on the streets of Chicago, Illinois the other three months. My dad was owner of a nightclub, The Ivanhoe Restaurant. It was in existence from 1920 through 1977. The place still stands as a castle, a testament to time, on the corner of Clark Street and Wellington Ave. At one point in time, it became a speak easy.
For over thirty-five years, I’ve been writing. Some successes, some defeats. I began with paper magazines, then transitioned into short stories in books such as: A Match Made in Heaven and Angels on Assignment, and Chicken Soup Books. Together with the magazine articles (vignettes of my life) I have over five hundred shorts. A Perfect Night for Murder is my 15th book.
This is Author Robin Jansen’s writing and publication journey in her own words…
Inspiration to start writing…
My 5th grade teacher told me I couldn’t write. It inspired me to show how wrong that statement was. At the age of ten, I began to read feverishly and studied sentence structure along with vocabulary. By 7th grade, that English teacher accused me of plagiarism because, “No one your age can write that well.” Privately I was exonerated. In college I took private writing classes and on I went attending writing seminars and workshops.
Life is filled with mystery so that is my favorite genre to write. Love has been mainly elusive in my life, so that challenges me to write about it. I try not to limit myself when it comes to creating.

A Perfect Night for Murder Blurb
A Perfect Night for Murder is a psychological thriller involving FBI profiler, Antoinette (Toni) Postell. Tasked with analyzing the traits of the killer who preys on lone female joggers in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. Toni works in tandem with brash homicide detective Jack Autrey. Dubbed ‘Frosty’ by the press, a fifth victim turns up during a blizzard on a December night. This case gains heightened attention when a relative of a prominent city official is also found dead, wearing only a nightgown and bathrobe. The murders, deemed unrelated, quickly push the second killing as a priority, yanking Toni from the serial killings. Meanwhile, Frosty continues his unsettling calls to Toni after each murder, complicating the situation further as she tries to keep their communication secret from her superiors. Compounding her struggles is a haunting figure from her past that threatens her grip on reality. If she can’t distinguish between the truth and delusion, she risks everything she holds dear.
One of Robin’s favourite scenes from A Perfect Night for Murder…
My favorite part is the entire Chapter 10 because it has a hint of coming romance, an introduction to an ex-fiancé, a clue to who the murderer is, and another murder in the park. All at a New Year’s Eve party.
I am presently writing the sequel, A Perfect Time for Murder.
