Eva Fox Mate has been writing ever since she could hold a pencil. An avid reader, crafter, and lover of history, when she isn’t writing or volunteering at a house museum, she’s wielding a crochet hook or glue gun and looking for something to DIY. A transplanted Ohioan, she now lives in the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado, with her husband of over 30 wonderful years. Empty nesters, they enjoy golfing, traveling, and spending time with their two adult children and their two zany and much-spoiled dogs.

A little bit about Author Eva Fox Mate…

It’s hard for me to say which came first: my love of reading or my love of writing—it’s very much a chicken or the egg thing with me! The first books I remember writing (and illustrating) were about a ladybug named Mandy. I was about 6 or 7 years-old when I wrote these stapled-together books and read them (ad nauseam!) to my sister. A dead-end job that I disliked, coupled with a worldwide pandemic, gave me the excuse and courage to begin writing full-time. Now, four years later, I have written three books, two of which have been traditionally published.

Inspiration to start writing…

I think both my unhappiness at my job and the crazy uncertainty of 2020 gave me a sense that it was “now or never,” and I took a leap of faith. It’s very easy to find excuses not to follow our dreams but, with the whole world facing sickness and death, it seemed ridiculous not to at least try to finish a book. I wrote a mystery within three months of quitting my previous job, and writing has been my full-time job ever since. I prefer to write in the genres I have always loved to read—namely, mystery and romantic suspense. I love the puzzle and pace of a good mystery, as well as the happy ending of a romance. I particularly enjoy the marriage of convenience trope, so—of course—I used that in One Man’s Treasure. Like It or Not employs the married in haste trope, another one of my favorites.

One Man’s TreasureBlurb

Callie Wallis is militantly self-reliant, but when her sister’s mountain of medical bills threatens to avalanche, she does the unthinkable: She asks her boss, Adam, for a loan. A member of the famous Hughes clan, Adam is fed up with the scheming fortune hunters and paparazzi that dog his every step.

When his trusted assistant, Callie, asks for money, he ups the ante to a marriage of convenience instead. Each plan to get what they want from the arrangement and leave, but when a black-market treasure hunter decides Adam has something he wants, can the pair escape both danger and love?

And can Callie protect the secret she’s kept from Adam for years?

One of Eva’s favourite quotes from One Man’s Treasure…

It is a truth universally acknowledged,” Callie said under her breath, with a silent apology to Jane Austen, “that it is far easier to get a man into your bed when he’s in the same town.”

Eva’s works…

My first romantic suspense, One Man’s Treasure, debuted in August of 2024. It’s the first book in my Hughes Brothers Trilogy. The second book, Like It or Not, is currently available for pre-order. It will be out July 21, 2025, wherever books are sold. Both books are available in e-book or paperback form.
