A little bit about Author Carol Henry…

As historian for my town, I wrote many articles on the history, people, and current events for local papers. Deciding to improve my writing skills, I enrolled in writing classes while working at Cornell University, and attended writer conferences. I co-founded the Write Now writers’ group, which I still run today. After my husband and I retired, we became world travelers. Wanting to share my travel experiences, I began writing travel features for the local papers, and then branched out to write for major cruise lines’ deluxe in-cabin books, and several well-known travel magazines.

This is Author Carol Henry’s writing and publication journey in her own words…

Inspiration to start writing…

I was an avid reader growing up, but didn’t discover the romance genre until I’d been married for several years and sisters shared their love of romance novels with me. But my decision to write a romance novel happened while I was in the middle of reading a romance novel. I thought—gee, I can write a romance, too. It didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen. Perseverance and encouragement from family and writer friends paid off. Although the first book I wrote wasn’t the first to be published, Nothing Short of a Miracle became a #1 Best Seller on Amazon for 21 days in a row.

I am still a freelance writer, as well as an author of light romantic suspense adventures (Indiana Jones meets Romancing the Stone) for my international travels Connection Series. I also write American historical, holiday, family, and contemporary light romance novels. All novels are  available as e-book and print.

Arctic Connection:

The 5th in Carol Henry’s Connection Series finds marine biologist Brianna Murphy on assignment in Norway to determine the cause of the decline in fish, and she discovers her uncle’s fishery is under suspicion in a black-market ring. Working with an international team of specialists, she goes solo with the team’s climatologist, Conner Holt, and they become the target of several suspicious accidents. Thankfully, Conner has her back. Or does he?

Conner feels responsible for the accidents they encounter, but he’s not sure he trusts Brianna to be objective since her family is under suspicion. Their investigation heats up, as do their interactions. Neither is looking for a long-term relationship. But will they make that Arctic connection when they finally reach the North Cape?

Reluctantly, Brianna followed Conner back to their vehicle. The weather was ideal, and she was loath to leave this spectacular setting behind. But she knew this wasn’t a vacation, and there were many more scenic sites to enjoy along the way. Still, they had work to do. She climbed into the car, buckled her seatbelt, and sighed. She was glad she agreed to join him on this impromptu expedition. She couldn’t wait to share her memories with her parents when she returned state-side.

Conner leaned out the window to doubled-checked for on-coming traffic before pulling out of the parking area. Finding it clear, he slowly maneuvered the SUV on to the highway. A large, tan colored van come careening recklessly over the knoll heading right at them on the wrong side of the road. Conner veered to the right in order to avoid a head-on collision. The on-coming vehicle, instead of correcting his path, swerved directly toward them, their front bumper hitting against the SUV’s right back fender. The loud crash twisted their SVU sideways, causing it’s rearend to bang back against the guardrails, next to the overhang, heading in the opposite direction.

Brianna was thrown against the inside of the door, hitting her shoulder. She screamed, then held her breath, closed her eyes, and hoped the railing was sturdy enough to keep them from careening over the cliff, and the mile-high drop-off into the rocky ledge and gushing water far below.

One of Carol’s favourite scenes from Arctic Connection…

This one felt different.

Conner held out his hand. She slid hers into his strong hold without hesitation. They locked eyes, smiled, then nodded they were ready. The ship suddenly pitched from side to side, dipping then rising out of the water. Hand in hand they lost their footing and tumbled backwards into the churning arctic waters. Brianna’s hand slipped from Conner’s and they sank into the depths of the ocean as the side of the ship tilted, rose, again, took a sharp, deep dip, and slapped back in place. Gushing waves pushed her deeper and farther away from the boat. And Conner. Unable to ascertain her coordinates, due to the height of the waves obscuring her whereabouts, she was sucked back under once again before she was able to finally gain control. She paddled her fin laden feet, propelling her to the surface. Her breath coming in gasps, she splayed her hands to the sides above the water to hold her in place. She searched for Conner, only to find him several yards to her left, scanning the perimeter through the mist. Before she could think about swimming to his side, she lost her momentum as another giant wave rocked against the boat, splashed back in her direction, and pushed her farther out to sea, and pulled her back under. She struggled underwater trying to re-attach her oxygen mask, only to bob up to the surface once again. She swiftly swam away from the ship in order to escape getting caught in another backwash caused by the surge so she wouldn’t be drawn in and up against the boat. She turned to assess her situation, and came face to face with Conner. His arms reached for and encircled her. She gratefully wrapped her arms around him, and together they tread water waiting for the waves to calm.

“What just happened?” she shouted, lifting her mask, looking back at the ship, now steady as if nothing had happened.

“I have no idea, but I’m going to find out. This can’t be another accidental mishap. Come on, the boat looks like it’s settled. Let’s get back on board and find out what the hell just happened.”

Juelle’s Legacy Blurb

Juelle’s Legacy is the first of Carol Henry’s Lobster Cove Trilogy, where an accident puts Juelle McClintock’s husband, Sebastian, in a coma. She’s left to care for her small daughter on her own—and to deal with the guilt over her plan to divorce him. When Juelle is faced with the decision of whether to remove his life support, her grief-stricken mother-in-law calls her a murderer. Matters become more complicated when Hunter McClintock arrives in town, claiming to be Sebastian’s half-brother.

Hunter McClintock is summoned from Hawaii for the reading of his father’s will—a father he never knew. Despite his qualms of dredging up bitter emotions, he goes to Lobster Cove, Maine, and walks head-first into a hornet’s nest, and a beautiful, sexy, grieving widow who is married to his half-brother.

An unexpected stipulation is revealed at the reading of the will, and Hunter and Juelle are faced with decisions that will alter their destinies. Will Juelle’s legacy complicate her life further, or lead to the contentment and love she deserves?

One of Carol’s favourite scenes from Juelle’s Legacy…

“Hunt was a very dedicated man—to the company and his employees. He had their best interest at heart. He didn’t spend as much time at home, the lobster business required a lot of hours and hard work. Hunt was a kind man, never raised his voice around Makenzie, and always found time to acknowledge her when she was in the room. He was an exceptional man—loyal, good business ethics, and a good family man. You’re like him in several respects. Not only do you resemble him, but your mannerisms are like his, and you’re a caring person.”

“That’s kind of you to say.”

“Why else would you come to the aid of a damsel in distress?”

She smiled. Her eyes sparkled as she looked into his. Although he had no business doing it, he leaned in and kissed her full on the lips. When she didn’t pull back, it was the spark he needed—he pressed his advantage, wrapped his arms around her, and drew her in for a mind-blowing assault to his senses. Her arms curled up around his neck. The kiss continued until he was out of breath, and his lower extremities tightened so hard he was about to embarrass himself. Just in time, she flattened her hands against his chest and leaned back in his arms.

The look in her startled eyes turned a boat-load of screws in his chest. He wasn’t going to apologize. That had been one hell of a kiss.

  1. Great spotlight. I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Romance is much harder to write than people might imagine. A great share thank you 😊

      1. I’ve known Carol since we both attended a writers retreat in Asheville, NC in 2011. She’s not only a wonderful writer, but kind and generous to newbies in the field. Loved reading her favorite scenes from these novels. I think Cairo Connection was my first Carol Henry novel! Adventure and romance! 🥰
